Each year, the National Roofing Contractors Association celebrates National Roofing Week during the first full week in June. This year, it falls from June 5-11. The purpose of the event is to increase awareness about the importance of quality roofing and help homeowners make more informed decisions about maintaining and replacing their roofs.

It should come as no surprise that this is one of our favorite weeks of the year! Our team knows firsthand that waiting to fix roof damage often leads to costly repairs. We’re proud of the role we play in helping our community stay safe within their homes through the roofing services we provide.

How You Can Celebrate National Roofing Week

Another part of our job is to help spread the word about roof maintenance. If you’re looking for ways to celebrate National Roofing Week, we encourage you to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for tips on how to take care of your roof and spot signs of damage.

There are also a few things you can do right now to help keep your roof in great shape!

Look for Signs of Roof Damage

When it storms, it’s not uncommon for your shingles to get damaged. Once the weather clears up, head outside and take a look to see if you notice any missing shingles or granules on the ground. If you do, your roof could be vulnerable to leaks. In that case, it’s best to schedule an inspection

Clean Your Gutters

Did you know that clogged gutters can cause water leaks and damage to your home? By removing dirt and debris from your gutters regularly, water will be able to flow through them when it rains. If you notice that your gutters are sagging or damaged, consider replacing them before the problem gets worse.

Take a Look Around Your Attic

Taking care of your roof involves more than looking at your home’s exterior. Inspecting the inside of your attic is just as important. If you don’t have proper ventilation and insulation in your attic, your roofing system is at risk of damage.

A few times per year, take a look in your attic to make sure there are no signs of moisture. You should also check your insulation to see that it’s still working effectively.

Schedule Regular Roof Inspections

If you’re not in the habit of getting regular roof inspections, National Roofing Week is the perfect time to get back on track. As a good rule of thumb, we recommend getting an inspection twice per year or after a significant storm.

By doing so, you’ll be able to detect potential issues before they become big problems. This can help prevent costly repairs and water damage to your home.
